This technical note demonstrates the utility of the ScreenChip system, a microfluidic platform for recording electropharyngeograms (EPGs) from the nematode worm, in pharmacology. It presents a study in which adult worms were exposed to compounds chemically related to Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive compound in marijuana (Cannabis sativa), and the pharyngeal pumping frequency measured using the ScreenChip system.
