Thermal Imaging Cameras Help Athletes and Sports Enthusiasts with Early Observation of Inflammation

Athletes and sports enthusiasts are typically exposed to great physical stress. Overuse reactions are frequent and therefore, early observation and localization of inflammation is critical to define the appropriate treatment. Since inflammation usually causes a local increase in skin temperature, it is ideal to be monitored by a thermal imaging camera. This case study describes how Swiss practitioner and teacher Alfio Albasini has used FLIR® thermal imaging cameras for this purpose, and highlights the many benefits of the technology for this application.
