Accuri Cytometers Adds Automation To Its Revolutionary C6 Flow System with Commercial Launch of CSampler
6 May 2009Accuri Cytometers, Inc. today announced the commercial launch of CSampler™, an optional accessory that adds simple, reliable and user-friendly automation to the Accuri C6 Flow Cytometer® System, a revolutionary product designed to bring the power of flow cytometry analysis to the laboratory of every life science researcher.
“The automation capabilities of the Accuri CSampler are being welcomed by researchers who are looking to streamline their operations and conduct more research using flow cytometry,” said Grant Howes, Accuri’s director of marketing. “The feedback we are receiving from early users is very positive. They appreciate the significant savings in time and effort CSampler can make possible, its flexibility in handling both plates and test tubes, and the fact that it is easy to install and operate, while costing substantially less than other automation systems.”
CSampler saves researchers time and effort by allowing all steps from sample preparation to flow cytometry analysis to be done in the same 96-well plate. CSampler’s compact size and low price—it sells for about half the cost of other flow cytometry automation systems—reflects its unique design. Its specially designed software, CFlow® Sampler, makes CSampler easy to set up and operate.
“We brought the same demanding principles to the design of CSampler that have proven so successful in our C6 Flow Cytometer System—high performance, reliability, ease-of-use and affordability,” said Jennifer Baird, chief executive officer of Accuri. “Launched just a year ago, the Accuri C6 system is receiving outstanding acceptance in the marketplace, as a growing number of scientists discover the benefits of round-the-clock access to high quality flow cytometry. The addition of CSampler now extends the utility of the C6 system to the thousands of laboratories requiring automated multi-well plate analyses, furthering our goal of bringing the power of flow cytometry to every life science researcher.”
The Accuri CSampler is compatible with 48- and 96-well microplates and deep-well plates, and also comes with a 24-tube rack for standard 12x75mm test tubes. Users can run multiple experiments in a single plate and apply settings to specific wells or the entire plate, with the ability to construct templates. Accuri’s novel polar-coordinates approach enables CSampler to move faster between distant wells than conventional automation systems, and its small, user-installable platform self-aligns. CFlow Sampler software also includes a “Priority Interrupt” function allowing users to interrupt a run and process samples that have to be dealt with immediately, then replace the plate and resume the original run where it left off.
CSampler brings automation capabilities to the Accuri C6 Flow Cytometer System, a full-featured, two-laser, six-detector analytical systemthat includes the C6 Flow Cytometer, CFlow Plus Software and a Workstation PC. The C6 Flow Cytometer has forward and side-scatter detectors, as well as four fluorescence detectors equipped with user-replaceable optical filters. The operating software is designed to make data collection and analysis fast and hassle-free.
Separately, Accuri announced the opening of its European headquarters outside Cambridge, U.K. and the launch of European operations.
“With the Accuri C6 system rapidly gaining widespread adoption in North America, it was time to extend our direct operations to Europe,” said Robert Penney, managing director, Accuri Cytometers (Europe) Ltd. “We already are seeing evidence that European scientists in a variety of settings are eager for the benefits of the C6 and CSampler, and we look forward to robust growth in this key market.”
