Setaram has long used Achema to launch new and exciting products into the Materials Characterisation field and this year we will be introducing a number of new product lines and we invite you to visit us at Booth J24- K25 – Hall 6.3 to view these exciting developments:

ACL Instruments: Chemiluminescence systems for the analysis of oxidative reactions.
The ACL Instruments system allows for the use of minimal amounts of sample (≥ 0.1 mg) and the highest sensitivity yet results are unaltered by side reactions. The application potential of Chemiluminescence is enormous – this method is particularly suitable to characterize oxidative reactions, thermal decay, stability, efficiency assessment of stabilizers (qualitative and quantitative), determination of activation parameters and the prognosis of life expectancy, cross linking etc. The extraordinary sensitivity of the CL method allows examination of oxidation reactions at moderate temperatures. This decreases the probability of observing secondary phase transition (softening, melting, changes in modification etc.) that commonly distort results obtained by conventional thermo-analytical methods.

AlyXan VistoMS Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Spectroscopy Coupling.
Setaram and AlyXan are pleased to announce the development of VistoMS a new technique and coupling for thermal analysis techniques using Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Spectroscopy (FTICR) for ultra high resolution identification of evolved volatiles. This new technique is the first true coupling innovation for many years, and is based upon a mass spectrometry technique that directly measures the ion's cyclotron frequency and calculates the corresponding mass. One of the main advantages of the method is that it does not fragment the evolved molecules; it is a non destructive technique. As such it has the power to deliver a very high resolution and a very high sensitivity for the measurement of evolved molecules.

The FTICR uses various precursor ions such as H3O+ to deliver a soft ionisation allowing the ionisation of the molecules without fragmentation. As the exact mass of the molecules is obtained, their identification is made extremely easy and the results deliver the corresponding molecular formulas. Additionally the mass resolution is as low as 0.015 amu, the new VistoMS can differentiate between moelucles with the same nominal mass, something that is almost impossible with traditional techniques.

HEL Accelerated Rate Calorimeter – PHI-TEC I.
HEL has been the leader in adiabatic calorimetry for some time, and has combined with Setaram to offer a comprehensive product range to any Process Safety laboratory – form DSC, through to full vent size determination using Low Phi Factor Adiabatic Calorimetry (Phi-Tec I). At Achema Setaram will introduce the ALL NEW PHI-TEC I Accelerated Rate Calorimeter, which uses the well proven and established ARC technology that has been offered by HEL for more than a decade. This exciting new offering includes, for the first time, a bench top design that can fit inside a standard fume hood and run off a standard PC running XP/Vista. There is no longer any need for either a stand-alone housing or walk-in fume hood, this new design includes easy access for the ARC bomb and also HEL’s award winning GUI based software.
