In making this investment, the LIH is demonstrating its commitment to the highest levels of patient care.

Rapid screening allows early identification of potentially colonized patients who can be isolated and treated before putting themselves and others at risk.

The choice of the BacLite® system allows the LIH to capitalize on 15 years of development work originated by the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory (Dstl), a world renowned centre of excellence for scientific research.

John Eldridge, microbiology laboratory manager at LIH, commented “We want to employ the very latest tools to protect our patients from Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI’s). In our evaluation, the BacLite system was fast, sensitive and cost effective and we were able to demonstrate the benefits of introducing the system in routine screening.”

Tim Coombs, Chairman of Acolyte added “We are delighted to be working in partnership with a forward looking hospital like the LIH. BacLite® flex incorporates the full range of features requested by our customers and provides a flexible package for different specimen volumes and future HCAI requirements”.

Bernie Almond, Divisional Director of BioStat Healthcare Ltd said “As the UK distributor of this innovative new technology we are pleased to be working closely with Acolyte and LIH on the introduction of this major step forward in MRSA screening”.
