Allprotect™ and AllPrep™ sample technologies for systems biology
11 Jun 2007Allprotect and AllPrep sample technologies from QIAGEN standardize and streamline sample preparation for systems biology. Allprotect Tissue Reagent immediately stabilizes DNA, RNA, and protein in tissue samples for long-term storage without freezing. The AllPrep DNA/RNA/Protein Mini Kit allows simultaneous purification of these 3 analytes from the same precious sample.
By immediately submerging fresh tissues in Allprotect Tissue Reagent, the in vivo profile of DNA, RNA, and protein is preserved. Tissues are conveniently stabilized at room temperature and can be safely stored for up to 6 months at 2–8ºC, or longer at –20ºC or –80ºC. Tissues also remain stabilized at 15–25ºC for up to 7 days, allowing shipment without ice or dry ice.
With the AllPrep DNA/RNA/Protein Mini Kit, separate fractions of DNA, RNA, and protein are simultaneously purified from the same tissue sample in a simple spin-column–based procedure without phenol and acetone. There is no need to split the sample into three prior to purification, allowing maximal recovery of DNA, RNA, and protein.
Genomic DNA and total RNA purified using combined Allprotect and AllPrep sample technologies deliver optimal performance in all downstream applications, including real-time PCR and real-time RT-PCR. The purified total protein, which is obtained using a novel aqueous protein precipitation solution, is highly suited for SDS-PAGE and western blotting.
Functional protein suitable for enzyme assays can be purified from Allprotect stabilized tissues using the Qproteome Mammalian Protein Prep Kit. QIAGEN® sample technologies for purification of DNA or RNA, such as DNeasy®, RNeasy®, and QIAamp® Kits, are also compatible with Allprotect stabilized tissues.
Allprotect Tissue Reagent, AllPrep Kits, Qproteome Kits, DNeasy Kits, and RNeasy Kits are intended for research use. The RNeasy Mini Kit, RNeasy Protect Mini Kit, RNeasy Protect Saliva Mini Kit, and QIAamp Kits are intended for general laboratory use.
