AnaSpec announced the release of the industry’s most sensitive assay kits for the detection of alkaline phosphatase activities. The SensoLyteTM Luminescent Alkaline Phosphatase and SensoLyteTM Luminescent Alkaline Phosphatase ELISA assay kits contain a chemiluminescent substrate capable of detecting enzyme activities in solutions and in biological samples at femtogram level. The luminescent substrate supplied in the kits provides high signal, low background, wide dynamic range, rapid results and good reproducibility. The kits provide sufficient reagents to perform 500 assays in a 96-well plate format.

Phosphatases play a key role in cell signal transduction, differentiation, and proliferation, with alkaline phosphatase catalyzing the dephosphorylation of biomolecules in an alkaline environment. Alkaline phosphatase is present in all human tissues, particularly in the liver, bile duct, kidney, bone, and placenta. The level and activity of alkaline phosphatase correlate with many physiological and pathological events, such as bone development and bone-related disease,1,2 renal disease,3 pregnancy, and drug intoxication.4 Alkaline phosphatase is widely used as a reporter for gene expression and for ELISA.
