Thermo Fisher Scientific continues to innovate its SYBR Green real-time PCR (qPCR) master mix portfolio with the launch of the Applied Biosystems PowerUp SYBR Green PCR Master Mix. The PowerUp SYBR Green Master Mix is a pre-formulated, universal, 2X concentration Master Mix designed to improve the specificity and reproducibility of qPCR workflows. The master mix contains the industry’s first proprietary Dual-Lock Taq DNA Polymerase enzyme that includes a combination of two hot-start mechanisms used to control Taq activation for increased specificity. The dual hot-start approach is designed to eliminate non-specific amplification by preventing polymerase activity at low temperatures. For cancer researchers, controlling non-specific amplification is critical when characterizing important genes in cancer as it can produce false positives. The inclusion of UNG and dUTP enzymes also prevents previously amplified PCR products from contaminating subsequent qPCR reactions. PowerUp SYBR Green Master Mix provides robust results ranging from 100 ng to 0.1 pg of complementary DNA (cDNA) per reaction.1 It can be used in either standard or fast cycling mode and is compatible with all qPCR instruments. When used with Dual-Lock Taq DNA polymerase, the master mix has been shown to generate consistent performance in preassembled reactions for up to 72 hours.

  • Exceptional specificity with dual hot-start mechanism
  • Highly reproducible threshold cycles over a broad dynamic range
  • Compatible with standard or fast cycling for results in less than 50 minutes
  • Formulated with UNG/dUTP to prevent contamination of carryover PCR products
  • Stable at room temperature for 72 hours once plates are prepared for qPCR
  • Universal instrument compatibility
