Artel has unveiled the new MVS Multichannel Verification System, a performance assessment and optimization tool for automated liquid handlers. Recent enhancements in the system have improved flexibility and made it easier to use.

The MVS provides accuracy and precision data which is traceable to the International System of Units (SI), through reference standards developed and maintained by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

The system is able to function within a volume range of 0.01μL to 350 µL, and measures the dispensed volume using ratiometric photometry for optimal accuracy and precision. With the MVS enhancements, the system can now provide volume measurements with an even higher degree of accuracy and precision. For devices utilizing 384-well plates, MVS precision and accuracy tolerances have been reduced to 0.8 – 1.4% and + 2.5 – 3.5% respectively, depending on the volume range. For devices dispensing into 96-well plates, the precision and accuracy specifications have been tightened to 0.4 – 0.5% and + 2 – 3% respectively, depending on the volume range.

“Our goal as the leader in liquid handling quality assurance is to enable laboratories to strengthen their quality control programs without spending significant time or effort. The MVS has already become the industry standard in liquid handling quality assurance worldwide. Our aim today is to make its implementation and use by laboratories as easy as possible,” said Tanya Knaide, MVS Product Manager, Artel. “We also recognize the increasing number of laboratories working with extremely small volumes. With the enhanced MVS, these laboratories can ensure that their automated liquid handlers are dispensing even small volumes to specifications, maximizing efficiency and assay productivity.”
