Warwick Analytical Service, the analytical division of Exeter Analytical (UK) Ltd., has announced that recent investment in automated titration equipment will enable them to enhance their highly accurate and precise determination of halogens (Cl, Br, I) and sulphur as an analytical service.

When asked about the new investment, Paul Hemming, the European Sales Manager, said, "In line with our ethos of providing analytical excellence at a realistic price we carefully reviewed the techniques available for halogen and sulphur analysis. While techniques such as ion chromatography offer ease of use benefits, they cannot match the accuracy and precision achievable by titration methods."

He added, "Titration plays a key role in sample testing in many industries, and although manual tests provide good levels of accuracy, it is labour intensive and time consuming. Typically manual titration offers no means of ensuring total consistency in analyses between different analysts, the new autotitration system will eliminate this source of error."

The new autotitration analysis service will enable the determination of sulphur or individual/mixed halogens in a single titration analysis. Equipped with the latest autotitration equipment - WAS can routinely achieve accuracies of better than +/- 0.3% absolute. The addition of the autotitrator to Warwick Analytical Services analytical services means that not only can customers continue to achieve precise and accurate halogen and sulphur determinations on their samples but also benefit from faster turn-around times associated with the combination of autotitrator and autosampler.
