Axiom Analytical, Inc. Announces a Near-infrared Gas Cell Optimized for Pharmaceutical Drying and Other Process Gas Applications

Axiom Analytical Inc., a leading supplier of sampling equipment, software, and integrated systems for all forms of molecular spectroscopy, today announced the availability of its FFM-202I fiber-optic coupled near-IR gas cell.

Model FFM-202I is related to the FFM-200C Series gas cells introduced last year. However, unlike the earlier cells, which are designed for use with tunable laser spectrometers, the new cell is optimized for use with incoherent instruments such as FTIR or diode array spectrometers.

In common with the FFM-200C cells, the FFM-202I employs an extremely robust “clean-in-place” design allowing a high degree of up-time even in the event of upset conditions such as those often encountered in process gas applications. The performance of the cell is made possible by a high degree of mechanical precision combined with the use of robust materials (fused silica and stainless steel) in contact with the process stream. These are combined with an optical design that allows the cell to be aligned while assembled by using a fiber-coupled visible laser source. As a result, an FFM cell can be disassembled, cleaned in place with common solvents, reassembled, and realigned in minutes. This makes the FFM-202I highly suitable for use in applications such as dryer solvent off-gas monitoring where upset conditions may occasionally coat the interior of the cell with powders or other contaminants.
