Binding Site has announced the addition of three new assays to the SPAPLUS Specialist Protein Analyzer menu. The albumin serum, haptoglobin and prealbumin (transthyretin) assays are fully automated and easy to use. They provide results which aid in the investigation of kidney disease (albumin serum), some haemolytic diseases (haptoglobin), and nutritional status (prealbumin).

The SPAPLUS is a compact, turbidimetric platform for specialist protein testing. It is an ideal platform for Binding Site’s protein assays and has been designed to combine the high quality analyzer and reagents, with exceptional support. The fully automated SPAPLUS system enables laboratories to maintain the quality of results and high throughput required for specialised protein assays. It can be placed alongside the laboratory’s main-line analyzers or in other areas of the laboratory.

The additions to the SPAPLUS menu complement the panel of assays currently available, including the Freelite® serum free light chain assays, Hevylite® immunoglobulin heavy chain/light chain assays, IgG, IgA, IgM, IgD, IgG and IgA subclasses, Complement C3c, C4, CH50, Cystatin C and Beta-2 microglobulin.

SPAPLUS has an expanding menu of diagnostic tests related to disease state management and clinical practice guidelines. More assays will be added during 2011 and 2012.
