BioMicroLab, robotics automation supplier for life science laboratories, announces the launch of the next generation of its popular benchtop tube sorting systems, the XL100 Vial Handling System. BioMicroLab instruments are commonly found in major pharmaceutical company compound sample storage laboratories. Over the past five year, BioMicroLab sample storage instruments have become indispensable tools for life sciences researchers.

The new XL100 Vial Handling System features robotic handling capabilities for expanded sizes of tubes and vials, 1D labeled barcode decoding, 2D marked barcode decoding, and an integrated 4-place balance for weighing application. Future modular capabilities of the XL100 Vial Handling Instrument include; screw cap vial decapper, integrated thermal blocks for frozen sample sorting, 5-place balance for weighing applications, and a robotic dispensing station for liquid handling applications.

Like BioMicroLabs’s popular XL20 Tube Handling Instrument, the XL100 Vial Handling Instrument is a robust benchtop vial and tube handling system that delivers the speed and precision of much larger and more expensive automation platforms. The XL100 Vial Handling Instrument will handle a wider variety of tube and vial sizes including 1 mL and 16 mL volumes. The Xl100 Vial Handling Instrument features an intelligent pick head allowing end-users unique flexibility when changing between tube and vial samples.

The XL100 Vial Handling Instrument is powered by BioMicroLab’s successful XL Work List Manager Software interface. The XL Work List Manager Software continues to provide operators with a operators with a simple-to-use software environment for all XL20 and XL9 Tube Handling Instruments and it now powers the new XL100 Vial Handling Instrument. As with all BioMicroLab products, IT development software tools will be available via a Software Developer’s Tool Kit for labs that want to integrate the XL100 robot with other laboratory LIMS systems and robots.
