BioTek Instruments, Inc., will present their latest microplate instrumentation technologies at Booth 155 during the Society of Toxicology's 50th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo 2011, the premier toxicology related conference and exhibition. The event will be held March 6-10 at Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., U.S.

BioTek is a leading provider of microplate instrumentation useful for many applications. On display at the booth will be instrumentation that can enable and improve a wide range of in-vitro, cell-based ADME/Tox applications, including drug absorption and transport in Caco-2 and MDCK cell lines and cytochrome P450 induction, inhibition and cytotoxicity in hepatocytes. The EL406™ Combination Washer Dispenser is particularly useful at enabling the semi-automation of these assays.

BioTek’s new, patent-pending Synergy™ H1 Multi-Mode Microplate Reader will also be on display. This cost-efficient quadruple-grating monochromator-based reader can be upgraded to a true, flexible hybrid reader with the addition of filter-based optics. The result is a highly versatile microplate reader for current and future assays. The Synergy H1 is compatible with BioTek’s Take3™ Multi-Volume Plate for multi-volume, multi-sample measurements in 2 μL microspots, BioCells or standard cuvettes. BioTek will also show its Precision™ XS Microplate Sample Processor which uniquely combines a single-channel sample processing head, an 8-channel pipetting head and an 8-channel bulk reagent dispenser all in one compact, affordable product.

Additionally, BioTek will participate in Celsis In Vitro Technologies’ Jam & Breakfast Session titled, "LiverPool: Pooled human cryopreserved hepatocytes and their advantages across diverse ADME-Tox applications" on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, 9:15-10:15 am in Room 140B. BioTek’s Principal Scientist, Brad Larson will be participating with a brief talk titled, “Automated Cell-Based Cytochrome P450 Inhibition and Induction Assays using Primary Human Hepatocytes”.
