BioTek Launch New Products & Present Posters at Drug Discovery Conference

29 Aug 2011

BioTek Instruments, Inc. will demonstrate their newest microplate instrumentation technologies at Stand E2 during the 5th annual Drug Discovery Conference, jointly sponsored by ELRIG (European Laboratory and Robotics Interest Group), SLAS (Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening) and BPS (British Pharmacological Society). The conference will be held September 7-8, 2011 in Manchester Central, Manchester, England.

BioTek’s newest multi-mode microplate reader, the patent-pending Synergy™ H1 Hybrid Microplate Reader will be featured. This quadruple-grating monochromator-based optical system is upgradable to a true, flexible hybrid reader with the addition of filter-based optics. The result is a highly versatile and cost effective microplate reader for a wide application range. Synergy H1 is compatible with BioTek’s Take3™ Micro-Volume Plate for multi-volume, multi-sample measurements in 2 μL microspots, BioCells or standard cuvettes.

BioTek’s newest microplate dispenser will also be featured at the stand. The fully modular and upgradable MultiFlo™ Microplate Dispenser dispenses 1 μL to 3 mL volumes in up to four independent and parallel reagents, and accommodates 6- to 1536-well microplates and microtubes. Peristaltic pump and microprocessor-controlled syringe pumps allow any dispensing combination to be chosen and upgraded as necessary, thus reducing costs, saving time, and simplifying processes. MultiFlo is robotic-friendly and controlled via the instrument’s keypad or Liquid Handling Control™ (LHC™) PC software with optional 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.

The conference marks the European debut of BioTek’s ELx405™ Select Deep Well Washer. This full plate washer automates aspirate and dispense steps in 96- and 384-well deep well microplates up to 50 mm high for increased washing efficiency compared to manual or hand-held methods. The ELx405 Select Deep Well Washer is compatible with BioTek’s BioStack™ Microplate Stacker and third-party automation for unattended operation, and controlled through the keypad interface or LHC software with optional 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.

BioTek will present three posters at the Drug Discovery Conference:

• Automated Compound Profiling Applications for the Assessment of Lead Compound Off-target Effects
• Automation of a Novel Cell-based ELISA for Cell Signalling Pathway Analysis (jointly presented with TGR Biosciences)
• Automation of a Generic Fluorescence Methyltransferase Activity Assay (jointly presented with BellBrook Labs)
