Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., recently announced its updated Build-Your-Own FT-IR website. The site offers many options for configuring the high-performance Thermo Scientific Nicolet 6700 FT-IR spectrometer so any laboratory can design the ideal FT-IR to meet its unique analytical challenges. This flexibility, which includes several optical component options that span the full range of applications involving infrared spectroscopy, is especially important in quality control, analytical services and research environments.

The Build-Your-Own FT-IR microsite demonstrates the versatility of the Nicolet™ 6700 spectrometer by matching specific sample types with component and accessory options that provide the best results.

The new microsite offers users information about the function and benefits of each component. Each accessory is matched with the type of sample the customer plans to analyze, allowing them to construct an instrument with the perfect combination of components and accessories. Items can be added or removed any time during the configuration process.

The Nicolet 6700 spectrometer combines analytical performance and reliability. Easily exchanged sampling accessories and optical components, combined with powerful Thermo Scientific OMNIC software, provides enormous flexibility and problem-solving capabilities. The microsite provides highlights of the entire OMNIC™ software suite, including the groundbreaking Thermo Scientific OMNIC Specta software for analysis of mixtures. For customers new to FT-IR, the microsite contains an introductory guide to the technology.

“The Build-Your-Own FT-IR microsite offers increased flexibility and control for our customers,” said Brian Davies, vice president and general manager of molecular spectroscopy and microanalysis, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “It is easy to use and comprehensive, providing access to a reasonably priced, compact instrument so that even non FT-IR specialists can begin benefiting from this powerful technology.”
