Colder Products Company Introduces New Termination with a ¼-28 Flat Bottom Port
22 May 2006Colder Products Company, the leading provider of quick disconnect couplings, now offers the popular PMC12 with an integrated 1/4-28 flat bottom port.
The port is compatible with standard HPLC type fittings and saves the user time by eliminating the need to thread and re-thread a separate fitting whenever the line is disconnected. In Colder's new design, after the initial threading of the nut into the 1/4-28 port, the coupling enables the user to connect and disconnect the line repeatedly without the need to re-thread. An incorporated valve ensures the coupling remains clean and leak free, while Colder's unique thumb latch feature provides an audible "click" that indicates when a secure connection has been made.
The release of the 1/8” flow polypropylene coupling with a ¼-28 flat bottom port responds to an increasing market demand for rigid, micro-diameter tubing and applications with low-pressure, dead-volume, and high-purity requirements. Colder’s new coupling termination is ideal for a wide variety of analytical instrument equipment and applications, including mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, gas chromatography, reagent lines, and waste lines.
“Analytical instrumentation equipment has become more accurate, sensitive and precise, and the industry has subsequently moved toward smaller and smaller tubing for fluid- handling systems,” says Jim Brown, medical business unit manager, Colder Products Company. “We recognize the need for products compatible with this market change. The new polypropylene coupling port addresses this trend while providing the safety benefits afforded by a secure, leak-free connection.”
Colder’s PMC12 polypropylene coupling with ¼-28 flat bottom port is currently available with in-line body, panel mount body, and panel mount insert terminations. Standard compression nuts and fittings allow the use of a variety of tubing sizes and materials.
Polypropylene couplings have an operating pressures range from vacuum to 120 psi at 8.3 bar and temperatures from +32°F to 160°F (0° C to 71°C).
