Cutting-Edge Imaging Technologies & Strategies in Pre-Clinical Small Animal Research Seminar
4 Nov 2011Carestream Molecular Imaging is pleased to sponsor a complementary seminar on Cutting-Edge Imaging Technologies & Strategies in Pre-Clinical Small Animal Research on Tuesday, December 6, in Cambridge, MA.
Today, non-invasive multimodal imaging technologies and strategies are indispensable in pre-clinical small animal research. With the introduction of advanced multimodal imaging platforms and novel probes, researchers are now able to combine data sets across imaging technologies easier and faster than ever before. This enables them to better quantify and understand mechanism of disease progression at the tissue and cellular level, and ultimately, advances the discovery and development of new biomarkers, drugs and therapeutics.
In this half day seminar the company will explore the work of three independent research scientists from Harvard, Baylor and Thomas Jefferson Universities who specialize in small animal research using high resolution optical/X-ray, nuclear and/or CT systems. They will discuss the role and importance of using diverse imaging modalities within their research, including fusion techniques and strategies, to simultaneously study biodistribution and efficacy of therapeutic candidates, new probe development and validation, as well as designing target-specific theragnostics and monitoring therapeutic efficacy in real time.
There will also be a presentation by scientists from Carestream Molecular Imaging on recent advances in new and novel PET and SPECT detector technologies, as well as a discussion regarding a new platform architecture for high resolution optical/X-ray imaging that combines luminescence, fluorescence, radioisotopic and X-ray modalities in one system.
In vivo imaging topics to be covered:
• Biomarker development and validation
• Therapeutics delivery and efficacy evaluation
• Oncology and infectious disease model progression assessment
• Protein expression and receptor occupancy studies
• A review of innovative, multimodal imaging studies from peer-reviewed literature
