Datacolor and Flagship Biosciences to Integrate CHROMACAL Color Calibration into TALIS Digital Imaging Platform
8 Sept 2015Datacolor® and Flagship Biosciences, Inc. have announced a new collaboration to integrate Datacolor CHROMACAL™ color calibration technology into Flagship's proprietary digital imaging platform TALIS™ (Tissue Analysis Laboratory Information System). The collaboration is significant because it combines the technologies of two industry leaders to establish a new standard of performance for automated imaging systems used in tissue analysis.
Datacolor is a global leader in color management solutions and color communication technology, and Flagship is the industry leader in tissue image analysis providing tissue analysis solutions for the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. CHROMACAL, the only commercially available color calibration technology for brightfield microscopy, addresses the critical need for quality assurance standards in digital microscopy imaging. With CHROMACAL, images captured over various time periods and using a variety of automated imaging systems can be standardized to deliver unparalleled consistency in quality and color, and therefore optimize evaluation and automated analysis. Flagship’s integration of CHROMACAL technology into its image analysis workflow ensures standardization of color parameters leading to consistency and accuracy of an image’s color base, and highly reproducible results across images.
"With this collaboration, CHROMACAL technology expands its scope to include whole slide imaging systems and scanners," said Mark S. McNulty, General Manager for Datacolor CHROMACAL. "Our relationship with Flagship will include the CHROMACAL monitor calibration system as well as the CHROMACAL calibration slide and calibration software, thereby providing a complete solution from image acquisition to image display and analysis." Mr. McNulty added, "We continue to be impressed by Flagship's vision and expertise, and are excited about CHROMACAL's role in advancing Flagship's industry leadership."
"Flagship is committed to the highest quality throughout our entire operation," commented Dr. Holger Lange, Flagship's Chief Technology Officer. "As whole slide scanners are becoming a commodity and slide images are acquired from different scanners, it was critical for us to implement standards for quality and color consistency that go beyond the levels provided by equipment manufacturers. Working with the color experts at Datacolor and integrating CHROMACAL allows us to continue to deliver unparalleled services to our clients."
