Diffinity Genomics™ announces the U.S. Launch of Diffinity RapidTip™ for one minute PCR purification. This enables PCR purification in one single step using just a single functional pipette tip and standard pipettor.

Diffinity Genomics™, a biotechnology startup company focused on providing faster, simpler nucleic acid purification products for life science researchers, announced today the U.S. sales availability of their first product, the new Diffinity RapidTip™ for PCR purification. The RapidTip provides effective purification of a PCR product sample in only one minute in a single step using a standard pipettor and just one RapidTip disposable pipette tip.

The Diffinity RapidTip contains proprietary Diffinity™ technology that is based on differential adsorption of nucleic acids. Using a standard pipettor and by simply mixing the PCR product sample for one minute, PCR impurities (unincorporated primers and nucleotides) adhere to the technology inside of the pipette tip, while the amplified double-stranded DNA remains in solution and is dispensed from the tip. The purified PCR amplicon is now free of excess primers, dNTPs, and primer-dimers and can be used directly in downstream applications, such as Sanger sequencing.

The tips fit on standard laboratory pipettors and are optimized to purify a PCR sample volume of 20-30ul. In addition to the Diffinity RapidTip and pipettor, a clean microcentrifuge tube or plate is all that is needed to store purified sample(s). Follow on products will address smaller & larger sample volumes and different types of pipette formats, such as for use on a broader range of pipettors and automated fluid handling equipment. The technology will also be leveraged for new products for use in different nucleic acid purification applications.

“The RapidTip is revolutionary in that it provides a method for PCR purification significantly faster and with much less waste, as compared to traditional methods of purification, such as using spin columns, magnetic bead separations, or enzymatic reactions,” said Jeff Helfer, CEO at Diffinity Genomics. “Our one-step, simple process makes it easy for researchers to effectively perform their PCR purifications using single or multi-channel pipettors without the need for additional reagents, equipment, or complicated protocols.”

The Diffinity RapidTip was tested extensively at various research facilities around the country resulting in Sanger sequencing results that were comparable or superior to those achieved from the current products on the market when sequence length and quality were quantified.

Diffinity Genomics is currently offering a free sample of 8 RapidTips to researchers who would like to try the tips prior to purchase. Sample requests and online purchases can be made by visiting the company website by following the Company article page link top right of this page.

“We are pleased with the interest our product has received by the research community as evidenced by the over 1500 sample requests we’ve already received, in addition to our initial purchase orders,” added Helfer. “We are looking forward to introducing additional products that leverage the capabilities of our Diffinity technology to continue to make lab life easier for researchers performing nucleic acid purification.”
