Documenting Pressure Calibrator Launched
13 Nov 2006Calibration expert, Ametek Calibration Instruments has set a new standard for pressure calibration with the introduction of the high resolution, compact JOFRA DPC-500 documenting pressure calibrator.
Designed for high precision calibration of pressure instruments such as pressure gauges, transmitters, digital manometers, pressure switches and overpressure valves, the DPC-500 offers improved pressure accuracy (± 0.025% FS), better electrical current (± 1.6 μA) and voltage (± 0.5 mV) accuracy and an extended pressure range of 250 mbar to 1000 bar FS. The DPC-500 also offers absolute pressure measurement from 0.4 to 16 bar absolute.
In a new approach to pressure calibration, the DPC-500 has a separate reference pressure sensor which can be fixed to instrument or used "off instrument" via a cable. Up to 5 reference sensors of different pressure ranges may be used with any one instrument. Since many calibration mistakes are caused by conversion of pressure units, the DPC-500 features 15 predefined units (bar, mbar, hPa, psi, inHg, cmHg, MPa, kPa, Pa, mH2O, cmH2O, mmH2O, Kg/cm2, InH2O, mmHg) together with one user-definable unit.
The easy to use, menu driven user interface is available in 5 languages. Calibration procedures can be pre-defined and used for on-site calibration. Up to 16 calibration procedures, each with 22 test
points can be stored. The results can be uploaded to a PC via the supplied DPC-CAL software package, which transfers calibration data into a predefined Microsoft Excel™ worksheet. This includes
predefined certificate print out for full documentation.
In measurement mode, the DPC-500 simultaneously displays reference pressure, output of unit under test, deviation in the selected pressure unit and deviation as a percentage of full scale of the unit under test. This makes it very easy to check whether the unit under test is within its specified accuracy class. A switch-test facility allows calibration and adjustment of the switch point of pressure
switches. Hystereses are calculated and displayed on the screen.
Each DPC-500 is supplied with an international traceable calibration certificate that meets the requirements of ISO 9000, Chapter 4, paragraph 11.2b This saves calibration costs and time for the
customer and is a part of the JOFRA "ready-to-use strategy".
