The COMBO-ONE detector is being used as part of a GPC/SEC system for polymer performance property screening
TESTA Analytical reports a major polymer manufacturer is using its COMBO-ONE detector, as part of a GPC/SEC system, to characterize the structure of macromolecules that offer desirable performance properties.
The client is a leading European manufacturer of high-performance water-soluble polymers for industrial applications. These polymers, although presenting a similar molecular weight and molecular weight distribution, have different physical structures which influence their performance in the target application.
Hizkia Chandra, applications specialist at TESTA Analytical commented “Even on the day of installation our Combo ONE detector revealed crucial differences between the investigated samples. The unit was connected to a high-performance GPC/SEC system from Shimadzu, this powerful combination led very quickly to impressive results.”
Combining a differential refractometer and viscometer in a unique integrated design the COMBO-ONE delivers unsurpassed performance by completely avoiding the traditional correction related to delay volume. This feature allows for more accurate determination of crucial parameters of any investigated polymer and in particular reveals structural parameters with unmatched accuracy.
