Easy & affordable multicolour flow cytometry & cell counting

Guava Technologies Inc. has announced a new addition to its range of microcapillary flow cytometry systems. Novice and experts alike will appreciate the latest addition to Guava's on-demand cytometry systems - the Guava EasyCyte Plus™.

The compact new system combines ease of use, affordability and 96-well high throughput screening with the expanded capabilities of a fourth colour option. The unique, built-in 96-well sample tray feature also accommodates an additional 10 sample tubes, providing added flexibility for varying throughput needs.

Simultaneous four-colour fluorescence detection greatly expands the results obtainable from any one well, simplifying simultaneous monitoring of more complex biological studies such as white blood cell phenotyping, cell signaling, cytokine production, activation marker analysis, and multiplex compound screening. Monitoring the interplay of up to four different biological mechanisms simultaneously improves the efficiency of experimental outputs. Not only does this shorten the number of iterations for any one experiment, it also comes that much closer to mimicking the complex biological responses within the body. Easy integration with third party plate handlers makes high throughput flow cytometry a reality.

Unlike other flow cytometers the Guava EasyCyte Plus provides both absolute cell counts and population percentages, allowing you to monitor for changes in overall cell number, which could affect your assay. The Guava EasyCyte Plus system runs all of Guava's turnkey assays, including antigen detection, cell counts / viability, cell cycle, cell proliferation, cytotoxicity, apoptosis, and more.

Guava has also implemented its ease-of-use approach in a new generation of software for the EasyCyte Plus system. With new Guava ExpressPro™ software you can view eight dot plots or histograms per display. The powerful, yet intuitive software features include plot overlays, customisable axis labels and statistics, batch printing, and easy data transfer via simple clipboard commands.

The addition of the Guava EasyCyte Plus is another step toward attaining the Guava vision of providing, accessible, powerful, yet cost-effective cell analysis for the Life Science research community. Now researchers have the freedom to perform more sophisticated, complex experiments themselves, right at their benchtop, rather than relying on core flow laboratories to perform the experiments for them.

A technical note entitled 'Assessing the regulation of T Cell function by distinct Cytokine combinations on a Guava EasyCyte platform' describing an application run on the new Guava EasyCyte Plus may be downloaded from here.
