SP Industries Inc. has announced that its VirTis Genesis 25 and 35 XL Freeze Drying Systems, now featuring proprietary auto-cascade refrigeration technology, can achieve low freeze drying temperatures while reducing operational energy consumption by 30 to 40% compared to two compressor cascade systems.

With only a single 1.5HP compressor powering the environmentally friendly refrigeration system, Virtis Genesis 25 and 35XL Freeze Dryers can squeeze more performance out of less energy consumed. These outstandingly reliable units can achieve -60ºC shelf temperatures and -70ºC condenser temperatures while still providing rock solid uniformity of drying conditions.

VirTis Genesis Freeze Drying Systems allow for easy and intuitive scale-up from research through to pilot plant production. The compact, free-standing, mobile design enables the system to be configured to almost any freeze-drying application. Ergonomic profiling eases inspection of the vacuum pump and facilitates oil changes. The product chamber, shelves, and condenser chamber are made of durable 316 L stainless steel, with a squared product chamber that ensures easy cleaning and maximum shelf area. A 4-inch diameter port increases vapour flow from the product to the condenser chamber, maximizing system productivity. CFC-free refrigeration systems allow the Genesis range to achieve a wide range of temperatures enabling freeze drying of all sample types. Multiple stage freezing and drying steps can be programmed.
