Elliot Scientific is now shipping automated alignment packages comprising their latest in piezo controlled Elliot Martock Gold Series flexure stages.

The new systems offer either 25 or 100 microns of advanced automated piezo-driven movement in two axes, and up to 2 millimeters of manual adjustment in three axes. Uses include fiber launch systems for single-mode, multimode and polarization maintaining fibers, waveguide and photonic device alignment, and some manipulation applications in the biosciences.

A typical system, such as the 10 nm resolution Elliot Scientific E2323, consists of an Elliot Martock MDE123 Gold Series XYZ flexure stage with 25 µm piezo actuators, an Elliot Scientific 3-channel E1100 piezo controller, and an Elliot Scientific E2300 USB-equipped DALi 3 interface for automated alignment. A PC or laptop for driving the easy to use software is also required and can be customer supplied or purchased from us at additional cost.

The Elliot Gold Series XYZ flexure stages are ideal for high precision manipulation due to their patented smooth backlash-free operation, and arcuate displacement (vertical displacement due to longitudinal flexure motion) that is up to 4 times better than competing products. The Elliot Gold Series XYZ flexure stage has been popular among scientists and researchers for over 30 years, with thousands sold worldwide to labs and universities.

Elliot Scientific's latest generation DALi 3 incorporates the best in electronic design and uses clever software algorithms to quickly deliver precision automated alignment. It does this by locating and optimizing an optical feedback signal typically derived from the components being aligned. It then adjusts their relative position to optimize the signal and therefore their accurate alignment.

The E2323 hardware and software package includes many features to enhance use, while also providing the necessary flexibility to allow it to be incorporated into a wide range of photonic alignment tasks for development, test and production applications. A long travel version, using a 50 nm resolution Elliot Martock MDE125 Gold Series flexure stage fitted with 100 µm piezo actuators, is designated the E2325.

Elliot Martock Gold Series flexure stages offer a 4.5 kg load capacity and are usually supplied 'right handed', but 'left handed' versions can be ordered on request.
