febit and Sigma-Aldrich arrange exclusive cooperation
11 Apr 2006febit biotech gmbh contracts with Sigma-Aldrich Chemie GmbH Deutschland as a partner for its product platform GENIOM.
Sigma-Aldrich is one of the largest suppliers of bioreagents and research chemicals for pharmaceutical and laboratory applications. The company agreed to produce special DNA building blocks and solvents for febit´s GENIOM platform. These are supplied as a kit that includes all reagents for rapid and flexible synthesis of DNA oligonucleotides in the biochip, the core component of the GENIOM instrument. In addition, Sigma-Aldrich will provide worldwide logistics for GENIOM chemicals. The cooperation was initiated in January 2006.

"We are glad to support febit´s innovative GENIOM technology with our synthesis reagents. Conversely, this cooperation will enhance our activities in molecular biology and novel genetic technologies," adds Thorsten Ebel, Sales and Marketing Manager Biotechnology of Sigma-Aldrich.
The companies currently prepare an extension of their cooperation to reagents for sample preparation.
