AB SCIEX, a global leader in analytical technologies, has announced the launch of MasterView™ Software, a new software application with built-in automation that quickly turns enormous amounts of complex analytical data into simplified, meaningful answers for safer food, cleaner environments and more reliable forensic drug screening than alternative approaches.

Designed for both targeted and non-targeted analysis when using AB SCIEX TripleTOF® accurate mass technology, the new MasterView Software automates data analysis and streamlines data review. The software extracts accurate mass-based information from complex TripleTOF-generated data files to rapidly identify and quantify targeted contaminants in food and environmental samples, as well as drugs of abuse in forensic toxicology samples, with high confidence. It also enables sample control comparison to identify non-targeted or unexpected compounds using automated formula finding and ChemSpider searching.

Prior to the availability of MasterView Software, lab personnel had to deal with the complexity of large amounts of data, the time-consuming task of manual data review and often expend resources trying to find a technologist highly familiar with mass spectrometry. This all has contributed to slower adoption of accurate mass technology in the past.

With this new, intuitive software package from AB SCIEX, lab personnel can use accurate mass technology, such as the TripleTOF 5600+ System or TripleTOF 4600 System, to accelerate the process of generating relevant information from complicated data sets, save time with the flexible reporting functionality and have confidence in the results ‒ all without needing to hire an expert in mass spectrometry.

“MasterView Software takes the guesswork out of compound detection, identification and data review,” said Rainer Blair, President of AB SCIEX. “The speed, power and accuracy of high resolution mass spectrometry technology can now be used for daily, routine testing in food safety, environmental and forensic toxicology laboratories, with minimal training needed for lab personnel who are unfamiliar with or have never used mass spectrometry.”

Whether searching for environmental contaminants, tainted food or forensic drugs, a user of MasterView Software can obtain results in some workflows in fewer than five clicks of a computer mouse. The software features a user-friendly interface with colored symbols for more efficient data review. It also has functionality to enable the elimination of irrelevant peaks. In addition, the speed of acquisition and use of MS/MS data that are made available through this unique and proprietary combination of AB SCIEX software and hardware enable lab personnel to reduce false positives and false negatives that they may get from alternative approaches.

The AB SCIEX TripleTOF® system is a high resolution, accurate mass platform with high speed and high sensitivity. It combines qualitative and quantitative analysis, extending the ability of lab personnel to not only identify targeted analytes, but also survey for unknowns in a single run.

TripleTOF instrumentation has been well-received by the scientific community for the past three years. The availability of MasterView Software is expected to extend the utility of this technology to a wider range of applications.
