Issues concerning nitrosamine contaminants and pesticide use are important considerations to maintaining personal and public health. To ensure safety regulations are met, Fujifilm Wako provides a wide range of analysis tools to maintain standards in pharmaceutical manufacturing and support food and water safety.

Nitrosamine analysis

Nitrosamine itself is a class of organic compounds formed between secondary, tertiary, or quaternary amines. Nitrous acid or nitrite salts (nitrosating agent), under acidic conditions, are classified as highly potent mutagenic compounds and referred to as the 'cohort of concern' (COC) compounds. Therefore, nitrosamine impurities have the potential to be DNA reactive and are hence considered as mutagenic as well as carcinogenic.

Approximately six years ago, the detection of dimethyl nitrosamine (NDMA) impurities in pharmaceutical products (valsartan) laid the foundation for extensive regulations and guidelines to monitor nitrosamine contamination in medicines. Therefore having sensitive nitrosamine detection technology is majorly important to maintain these standards.

Pesticide analysis

Pesticides are essential excipients for growing crops. However, they can contribute to health complications in humans or be harmful for the environment. In this instance, countries around the world have formulated regulations to help limit pesticide use.

Food, water and environmental analysis

Issues concerning food and water are an important aspect when it comes to maintaining personal and public health. It is also natural to expect the food and water that we consume daily to be safe, to guarantee this, it is essential that we perform reliable and repeatable analysis. Fujifilm Wako Europe provides a wide range of standards to cover these aspects to help support food and water safety and contribute to a carefree and conscious life.

Securing safe drinking water is an important issue and should be accessible all around the world. With controlled water analysis, it is possible to identify and quantify various components contained in water. Unsafe/contaminated drinking or environmental water could directly or indirectly affect people’s health. Therefore, most countries around the world established regulations & laws when it comes to substance limits regarding water. To contribute, Fujifilm Wako offers a wide range of standards, columns, and other reagents.

Fujifilm Wako can support chemical analysis with its broad range of standards, columns, mixtures, and consumables in nearly any field of application. Many products can be offered as certified reference material (CRM) to guarantee the next level of reliability.
