Capto Phenyl (high sub) and Capto Butyl media extend GE Healthcare’s hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC) portfolio to offer a wide range of hydrophobicity for screening and purification. Capto Phenyl and Capto Butyl are intended for the capture and intermediate stages of protein purification.

At the same time, GE Healthcare has extended its range of pre-filled PreDictor 96-well plates to include eight HIC media, available as single medium plates or screening plates, facilitating high-throughput process development.

Capto HIC media are based on the Capto platform’s rigid, high-flow agarose base matrix which enables the use of very high flow rates and larger sample volume processing, leading to higher throughput and improved process economy. These Capto media have a high tolerance to sodium hydroxide, ensuring repeated cleaning-in-place (CIP) procedures to remove tightly bound impurities and maintain capacity. Capto HIC media are available in a variety of formats for screening to large-scale manufacture, including PreDictor plates; prepacked HiScreenTM columns for scale-up; and bulk packs from 25 ml to litres for pilot studies and manufacture.

PreDictor 96-well plates used in conjunction with the latest version of Assist software, help increase process development efficiency by reducing the time to develop and evaluate new processes. The Assist software supports experimental set-up, data management and evaluation to enhance process understanding. Data from the PreDictor plates are then confirmed in packed bed using HiScreen columns before further scale-up.
