Gentronix announces further expansion of its in vitro genetic toxicity testing services with the introduction of the Micronucleus Test, with flow cytometric scoring. The micronucleus assay detects aberrant, small nuclei present in the cell cytoplasm. Micronuclei may contain whole chromosomes ‘lost’ during mitosis or fragments generated by chromosome breakage.

Flow Cytometric Micronucleus Test

• Automated scoring, higher throughput
• Better data, faster results
• Low sample requirement
• Multiple endpoint collection
• Human TK6 cells

Flow cytometric assessment permits automated scoring, which removes subjectivity, and rapid measurement of large numbers of cells increases statistical power. In addition, the in vitro MicroFlow® method used by Gentronix allows simultaneous collection of relative survival and membrane integrity parameters for cytotoxicity assessment, as well as cell cycle information.

The micronucleus testing service from Gentronix provides an opportunity for early identification of compounds likely to exhibit genotoxic liability allowing rapid prioritization of compounds for development, saving time and money. The new assay can be used to provide mechanistic insight into earlier results such as from GreenScreen HC or as a bridge to the in vivo micronucleus test required in the ICH guidelines.
