Hamamatsu Photonics introduce a brand new compact Microchannel Plate (MCP) assembly, the F12334-11. This new assembly is designed with a compact and thin profile making it suitable for applications where there are serious space constraints. It is also ideal for the design of compact mass spectrometry systems. Easy replacement is achieved with just two electrical connections; high voltage and signal out.

The MCP detector features an effective area diameter of 20 mm, 12µm pore diameter and a 12 degree bias angle. The F12334-11 features excellent flatness - vital in maximizing time resolution, as any warp on an MCP detector will result in a larger spread of ion arrival times (more time jitter), and thus increases the uncertainty of detected ion mass. The F12334-11 provides a time resolution of 1.5 ns (FWHM) and a gain of 1 x 106.

The excellent timing characteristics and unique compactness of the F12334-11 make it ideal for TOF-MS instruments, especially where there are significant space constraints. The device can also be used for other high-speed ion and electron detection applications.
