Hamilton Announces New Lab and Sensor Products
7 Mar 2014Hamilton has announced the launch of three new products, including the VisiPro™ DO Ex sensor, the EasyFerm™ Bio pH sensor line, and a disposable tip hand probe for use with the Microlab® 600.
VisiPro™ DO Ex sensor is the first optical dissolved oxygen sensor granted ATEX approval
The VisiPro DO Ex is the only optical dissolved oxygen (DO) sensor for use in explosive environments. VisiPro optical technology improves the measuring performance and simplifies maintenance. Improvements compared to conventional electrochemical (amperometric) sensors include flow independence, rapid start-up with no polarization time, and simplified maintenance.
The smart sensor with integrated transmitter enables direct communication to the process control system via two wire 4-20 mA standard signal or digital HART. All relevant sensor data including calibration and diagnostic information are stored in the sensor head, simplifying calibration and maintenance. Additional wireless communication directly from the sensor to your computer simplifies laboratory calibration, configuration, and maintenance.
EasyFerm™ Bio pH sensors are safe for use with sensitive cell cultures
The EasyFerm Bio pH sensor line is designed specifically for use with sensitive cell cultures and incorporates a newly formulated glass, which increases response times and reduces drift after sensor sterilization. The pH-electrodes are also ideal for biotech applications, like fermentations, where autoclavation, steam sterilizations (SIP) and clean in place (CIP) procedures occur frequently. In addition, the EasyFerm Bio sensors are certified biocompatibility for the reference electrolyte as well as EHEDG certified cleanability. In combination with the space saving Hamilton Hygienic Socket or FlexiFit, the EasyFerm Bio sensors fit perfectly in many kinds of fermenters and vessels.
As an option, EasyFerm Bio sensors also integrate the Arc transmitter, which enables direct communication to the process control system via 4-20 mA standard signal or digital modbus. All relevant sensor data including calibration and diagnostic information are stored in the sensor head, simplifying calibration and maintenance. Additional wireless communication directly from the sensor to your computer or a handheld device simplifies laboratory calibration, configuration, and maintenance.
New Disposable Tip Hand Probe enables faster assay dilutions using the Microlab® 600
Most common tasks in the laboratory involve dilutions of one type or another, mixing one or more samples and reagents and then bringing the solution up to a final volume with a diluent like water or buffer. Using the Microlab 600 Diluter for these tasks can reduce user-to-user variation, improve consistency, minimize wasted buffer and save on labor costs.
The current Concorde CT Hand Probe is designed for most analytical applications—the standard provides exceptional performance with no interference from carryover. However, some applications require a higher level of assurance for which the new Disposable Tip Hand Probe (DTHP) was developed. For these sensitive applications, sample is aspirated into a disposable plastic tip and thrown away between each sample, eliminating any chance for carryover. Applications that benefit from the DTHP include: forensics—for some applications regulatory considerations make disposable tips the preferred option; sterile samples—sterile disposable tips can be used to avoid transferring contamination between sample vessels; and DNA amplification—for applications where a single amplified strand of DNA is enough to impact results.
