Hamilton Company announces Stacked Tip Frames for the MicroLab® STAR and Nimbus automated pipetting platforms

25 Mar 2008

Hamilton Robotics' new Stacked Tip Frames for the MicroLab® STAR and Nimbus meets the needs of higher throughput automated pipetting applications. It is the ideal format for supplying more tips in a smaller space for longer walk-way time.

The stacked tips racks come pre-loaded and pre-stacked in compact blister packs. With one hand movement close to 2,000 tips in (20 racks: 5 stacks of 4 frames each) can be loaded on a carrier at one time. This greatly reduces the tedious task of loading consumables and frees up users to do more important and fulfilling work.

The stacked tip frames are available for 10μL, 50μL, and 300μL tip sizes and for both clear and black conductive tip material.

The tip racks are designed to fit in a standard SBS format carrier. And, since they do not require a special tip carrier, they can be placed interchangeably with other labware such as a microplate leading to very flexible deck configurations. They can even be loaded automatically in carrousels designed for micro titer plates.

The stacks are so stable that tips can be picked up directly from the stacks eliminating the need to move a stacked frame to a space consuming tip pick up station. The frames can be moved around the deck with either the iSWAP labware gripper or cost-effective CO-RE gripper paddles which attach to the pipetting channels in the same fashion as the CO-RE tips and needles.

Since its inception over 50 years ago, Hamilton has been recognized as a world leader in precision liquid handling.
