Hamilton Company announces the launch of its new MicroLab® Nimbus automated pipetting platform

12 Feb 2008

Hamilton Company’s new MicroLab® Nimbus meets the needs of smaller throughput automated pipetting applications. It is the ideal platform for fast plate replication and serial dilutions. It can also process single or dual nucleic acid separations, MALDI spotting as well as low throughput ELISA, and other applications.

The body of the MicroLab® Nimbus is designed to fit within a typical environmental hood. Its base configuration consists of a 96 channel pipetting head using Hamilton’s precision CO-RE tip technology. The fixed deck has 9 to 12 SBS labware positions. Labware density is further enhanced by the utilization of Hamilton’s proprietary “nested tip rack” design, which allows for tips to be stacked up to four racks high on the MicroLab® Nimbus deck. A barcode scanner and labware gripper are available as options. The gripper can reach beyond the front, back and left side of the instrument for custom integrations with other devices for expanded applications. The pipettor is controlled by Hamilton’s Vector software, the same software which controls all other Hamilton automated platforms including the popular medium throughput MicroLab® STAR. In the coming months, the company will expand the range of applications available on the MicroLab® Nimbus through the availability of additional optional equipment.

Since its inception over 50 years ago, Hamilton has been recognized as a world leader in precision liquid handling. From its earliest glass barreled syringes, to its most advanced robotic systems, Hamilton products have set the standard for excellence. With the addition of the MicroLab® Nimbus platform, Hamilton continues to strengthen its leadership position in the liquid handling industry.
