High Recovery Vials with 2-D Bar Coding Innovation

Anachem’s new Centre Draining (CD) vials for compound storage are the ideal solution for complete sample recovery and sample traceability.

The vials are now offered with a permanent identification system incorporating 1-D and 2-D barcodes, and also other human readable markings. These vials are ideal for applications requiring traceability of samples, permanent ID which users or customers cannot remove, and applications where a company’s product is delivered in sample vials. Example applications include compound management, chemical screening, sample collection for biological fluid testing and compound library manufacture & storage.

Internally the conical v-shaped base of each CD vial dips to a central point to ensure complete sample recovery and eliminate wastage of precious chemical compounds. Externally the vials are flat bottomed, meaning all the sample can be recovered with the vial standing completely upright. This gives the additional advantage that a 2-D barcode can be read on the bottom of the vial whilst in position on an automated system with a flat-bed scanner. The volumetric range of 2ml-80ml vials provides suitability for a wide range of applications.

By incorporating a square of two-dimensional dots on the underside of each vial, an individual bar code is formed. This permanent feature guarantees the identity of the contents and whereabouts of the vial within its stored location. Many racks and storage apparatus have integrated barcode readers specifically for revealing such data. With CD vials the scanning process is made easier by the flat bottom from which the code can be clearly read. Additionally corporate logos or company names can be applied to the side of the vial for immediate recognition and a professional customised look.
