Hoefer introduces innovative products for protein blotting

30 Aug 2006

Outstanding features and a stylish new look distinguish Hoefer’s redesigned semi-dry blotting systems. The TE 70XP and TE 77XP units include an intelligent built-in power supply, eliminating the additional expense of an external power supply.

These systems also incorporate a safety feature that automatically monitors transfer status and stops the transfer before the stack overheats. Two other models in the range, TE 70X and TE 77X, can be run with an external power supply.

The TE 77X and XP Semi-Dry Transfer Units can generate blots with one gel of maximum size 21 x 26 cm, two gels stacked or four SE 260 mini gels side-by-side. Requiring only a small amount of buffer and minimal current, these new units deliver excellent transfers of proteins from gels in less than one hour. The TE 70X and XP models accommodate one gel up to 14 x 16 cm in size or two SE 260 mini gels side-by-side.

According to Bertil Djupsund, European Marketing Manager for Hoefer, Inc., ‘This new line of TE semi-dry products was aimed at providing the widest choice for our Western blotting customers. The new styling of the whole range and the ability to use larger gels in the TE 77X and XP will be particularly attractive to scientists. All models come with a durable platinum-titanium electrode to ensure contamination-free transfers and Hoefer supports semi-dry blotting systems with a choice of accessories and spare parts.’
