HORIBA Scientific Announce Release of QExtra, Quantum Efficiency Enhancing CCD Technology

HORIBA Scientific, global leader in optical spectroscopy equipment, is pleased to announce QExtra, Quantum Efficiency Enhancing CCD Technology. QExtra Technology is an anti-reflective multi-layer coating designed to greatly improve quantum efficiency of back illuminated CCDs (BIDDs) over a broad spectral range, while suppressing undesirable etaloning effects.

QExtra Technology provides outstanding low light detection capabilities from 300 nm to 1000 nm with quantum efficiency higher than 90%, predominantly advantageous for spectroscopy experiments where UV and NIR region are of importance. Additionally, QExtra technology significantly suppresses etaloning effects noticeable in the NIR region above 750 nm in back thinned silicon scientific cameras.

The new QExtra Technology is available with HORIBA Scientific’s low-noise, liquid-nitrogen-cooled (down to –130°C) Symphony® II CCD cameras and our thermoelectrically cooled (–95°C) Synapse® CCD cameras.
