Hot melt extrusion: A holistic insight for process optimization
Join this webinar to hear more about hot melt extrusion (HME) and how it can be utilized to develop versatile dosage forms
12 Mar 2020Hot-melt extrusion (HME) is gaining attention in the pharmaceutical industry due to its high manufacturing efficiency, economic benefits, and ability to develop versatile dosage forms. In this upcoming webinar, hear from Dr. Rui Chen, Global Application Manager, Spectroscopy, Thermo Fisher Scientific, to learn more about HME and process optimization using near-infrared spectroscopy, Raman microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
Watch this webinar to hear how HME can be utilized to develop versatile dosage forms, especially for poorly soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). Chen will discuss a case study on acetaminophen (APAP) in hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) matrices prepared by HME, using an integrated analytical approach involving Fourier transform near-infrared spectroscopy (FT-NIR), SEM and Raman microscopy. Data from different analytical techniques are correlated and reconciled to elucidate the impact of process parameters, such as temperature and screw speed, on the formation of solid dispersions. Chen also discusses in-line process stability monitoring using FT-NIR.
