Impressive Line-Up of Speakers at VegMed 2019 Focusing on Plant-Based Nutrition
6 Mar 2019Europe’s biggest scientific conference on plant-based nutrition is coming to the UK for the very first time, bringing together some of the biggest names in plant-based medicine and nutrition.
VegMed 2019: The Power of Plants: bringing plant-based nutrition into mainstream medicine is a two-day conference held at King’s College London on 12 and 13 October 2019. The first day is for the medical profession: physicians, scientists, medical students, and nutritionists and those in related fields. The second day is for the general public.
As Europe’s biggest conference on plant-based nutrition, it boasts an impressive line-up of speakers including; Dr Michael Greger, founder of NutritionFacts.org and acclaimed author of ‘How Not to Die’, internationally renowned nutritionist Brenda Davis, Dr Neal Barnard - President of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and Dr Michael Klaper who has been featured in several award-winning films focused on health and sustainable living, including “Diet For A New America”, “What the Health”, and “Cowspiracy.”
It is anticipated that the conference will sell out each day with near half of the tickets sold already. Tickets are available for purchase at proveguk.eventbrite.co.uk
Philip Mansbridge, Executive Director of ProVeg UK, said: “We are delighted to bring to the UK medical and public audiences an impressive list of speakers, presenting the most up-to-date research on plant-based nutrition and medicine.
“VegMed provides a much-needed platform to address an imbalance within the medical profession. It is well documented that diet and lifestyle play a large role in preventing many of the UK’s biggest killers, yet only a handful of hours are dedicated to nutrition education for medical professionals here in the UK.”
David and Stephen Flynn (better known as The Happy Pear), best-selling authors and plant-based business owners are also confirmed to speak on the public day. Having recently launched ‘The Happy Gut Course’ in conjunction with Consultant Gastroenterologist Dr Alan Desmond, they will be presenting this on the public day and exploring how a plant-based diet can improve your health.
VegMed is brought to the UK by ProVeg UK in partnership with Plant-Based Health Professionals UK, whose co-founder Shireen Kassam added: “I am delighted to be involved in bringing VegMed to the UK. I hope the conference will inspire a new generation of healthcare professionals to use plant-based nutrition for disease prevention and reversal in their own clinical practice.”
