Inverted Microscope Meets inspection and QC Requirements

24 Jan 2007

An inverted metallurgical microscope designed specifically for inspection and quality control in the production line environment has been launched by Nikon Instruments.

Compact in size, and weighing only 9kg, the Eclipse MA100 combines ease of operation with Nikon’s renowned high quality CFI60 optics, but comes at a very affordable price. Furthermore, the new microscope can be connected to a range of Nikon digital cameras and configured with imaging software for seamless image acquisition and processing.

With its inherent ease of use, the MA100 is ideal for in-line inspection of micro structure, case depth and other key parameters on metallic and electronic components. For added versatility, two sample stages are available: a plane stage for general use: and a newly designed XY stage for larger and heavier samples.

When combined with a Nikon digital camera, and controlled via NIS-Elements software, the new inverted metallurgical microscope can instantly capture images and make them available for inspection or quality control purposes. In addition to improving general workflow, this also creates the opportunity to perform simple measurements, harness powerful image processing functionality and simplify report generation.
