Biobanking is the process by which samples of body fluids or tissue are collected, stored, and used to facilitate scientific and medical research. As a result of Covid-19, more than ever there is an increasing demand for high-quality and high-throughput libraries of biological and chemical specimens. A key challenge for these libraries is how to store the samples safely and securely.

Irish Life Sciences understand the importance of sample integrity and efficient sample storage and are proud to offer its plates as a solution. The plates are ideal for either intermediate or long-term storage of samples and applications that may not require a storage tube. If required, plates can be supplied barcoded for efficient sample tracking and improved workflow. The plates have a temperature capability range of -80°C to +121°C and can be sealed using a silicone mat or adhesive and heat-sealing films heat-sealed with foils and seals. These sealing materials can also be supplied by Irish Life Sciences.

Irish Life Sciences supplies a variety of storage - collection plates for volumes from 240µL to 10.0mL in a range of well configurations: 24, 48, 96, and 384 wells, with the most popular volumes of 1.0mL and 2.2mL being available in square well - pyramid bottom, square well ‘U’ bottom, round well ‘U’ bottom and round well ‘V’ bottom.

Medical grade polypropylenes are used by Irish Life Sciences to produce its range of deep well storage – collection plates providing very low concentrations of extractable elements known to leach out and affect your laboratory's valuable samples. At Irish Life Sciences production is carried out in its Class 8 cleanroom, to ensure that the deep well storage-collection plates it supplies are RNase – DNase and Pyrogen free. To ensure its plates are compatible with automated liquid handling platforms all deep well storage – collection plates produced by Irish Life Sciences comply with the SLAS/ANSI footprint specification and are tested for stacking capability in plate hotels.

Irish Life Sciences also manufacture reagent reservoirs that are used in the biobanking process. Reagent reservoirs are used to hold liquid that will be aspirated using multichannel pipettes. At Irish Life Sciences reservoirs are designed to minimize the ‘dead’ volume of valuable reagents. Irish Life Sciences offer reagent reservoirs in a variety of formats, single well with multiple base types or 8 and 12 channel formats.

Irish Life Sciences have over 40 years of experience in manufacturing products for the Life Sciences and Medical component sector and its plates are designed and manufactured with quality as its priority. Your lab can be assured their samples are stored in plates they can trust.
