The winners of the 2019 Scientists’ Choice Awards for Life Sciences have been announced in Atlanta, USA. Once again, scientists around the globe were invited to participate by nominating, reviewing and voting for the best lab products in the field. Winners and nominees of these prestigious awards were recognized at a presentation ceremony held last night during the AACR Annual Meeting. The AACR meeting highlights the best cancer science and medicine from institutions all over the world. Read on to discover this year’s award winners and highlights from the party.
Excellence in life sciences technology is celebrated at the 2019 Scientists' Choice Awards in Atlanta, USA Best New Life Sciences Product of 2018 SelectScience revealed that the Corning Cell Counter, from Corning Life Sciences, had been named Best New Life Sciences Product of 2018 thanks to the votes of scientists worldwide. The Corning® Cell Counter is the first automated benchtop cell counter that combines the benefits of both manual cell counting and automated image-based cell counting. Using state-of-the-art optics and image analysis software, the Corning Cell Counter can accurately and precisely measure cell concentrations and viability – live, dead, and total cells – using the standard Trypan Blue technique. Life Sciences Video of the Year in association with The Scientists' Channel David Ferrick, from Agilent, who technology features in the winning video The Life Sciences Video of the Year Award went to Dr. Adam P. Rosebrock, Assistant Professor of Pathology and Member, Cancer Center, Stony Brook School, of Medicine. Titled Advancing Metabolomics: Small Molecule Mass Spectrometry Reveals New Biochemical Pathways, the video interview for The Scientists' Channel features Rosebrock describing how the latest mass spectrometry technologies from Agilent are advancing the field of small molecule metabolomics. Hear how the Rosebrock lab is working to develop new mass spectrometry assays to measure the biochemical contents of cells to identify new metabolites and biochemical pathways.
