Magnetic protein isolation—based on MACS® Technology
22 Jul 2008At the heart of MACS® Technology are nanometer-sized, non-sedimenting, and superparamagnetic MicroBeads. Coated with monoclonal antibodies or other proven binding moities, such as streptavidin, or Protein A and G, the MicroBeads specifically bind their target proteins—while minimizing non-specific binding. The magnetically labeled sample can be easily separated in a MACS Column placed in the strong magnetic field of a MACS Separator. Thus, time-consuming centrifugation and tedious pre-clearing steps become unnecessary. All binding, washing, and elution steps are performed in a single column.
Besides single-sample isolations, the parallel processing of up to 96 samples can be performed in a fully-automated approach.
Products are available for the isolation of c-myc-, GFP-, GST-, HA-, and His-tagged proteins and for immunoprecipitation (IP) and Co-IP of virtually any protein. Besides tools for isolating biotinylated proteins and their interaction partners, a unique kit is offered for the isolation of native transcription factors.
