Mettler Toledo's New Plug and Play Sensors Ensure Oil Titration Precision

12 Dec 2008

METTLER TOLEDO, a global manufacturer and marketer of precision instruments for use in laboratory, industrial and food retailing applications, announced its new Plug and Play titration sensors, ensuring more precise measurement for manufacturers and end-users of mineral oils and derived products.

The exact determination of TAN or TBN is crucial for manufacturers and end-users. The Plug and Play works in concert with Excellence titrators and Rondo automation solutions to fulfill global oil standards.

The Plug and Play sensor chip immediately recognizes connection with Excellence titrators, ensuring smooth transfer of relevant data. These monitoring functions guarantee that the sensor is in optimal condition for demanding non-aqueous titrations.

The DGi116-Solvent's large round glass bulb provides fast and sensitive pH response. Its sliding glass sleeve promotes quick signal equilibration and is easy to clean. The gold shield for the inner glass half cell provides optimal electrical and static shielding for significant noise reduction.

The DMi148-SC is ideal to determine chloride and, after simple sulfidization of the silver ring, is optimal for the titration of mercaptans in petrochemical products. The pH glass reference eliminates diaphragm clogging and electrolyte refilling. New acid-base-titrations applications are now possible using the silver ring as reference.

The Rondo sample charger automates the complete workflow, composed of dissolution of the oil sample, titration, and cleaning and condition of the sensor. Each sample is analyzed in the same manner, significantly increasing result precision and integrity. Daily titration analyses can be started with one click and run fully unattended, enabling substantial efficiency gains.
