Millipore’s RiOs-DI™ Clinical Water Purification System Targets Clinical Applications

16 Jul 2007

Millipore Corporation today announced the availability of a water purification solution that provides consistent and reliable purified water for low-volume clinical analyzers. Designed specifically for clinical application requirements, the easy-to-use RiOs-DI Clinical system is optimal for low-volume analyzers requiring between 10 - 30 L/day. It provides users with a reliable alternative to buying, storing and handling bottled water.

The new system efficiently combines reverse osmosis (RO) technology with deionization (DI) resins to produce CLSI® Special Reagent Water (SRW). With high resistivity and low TOC (typically > 10 MΩ•cm at 25 °C and < 50 ppb before storage), this product water is of higher quality than either water produced by stills or service DI water—without the drawbacks. Additionally, the RiOs-DI Clinical system has a built-in 254 nm UV lamp that ensures low bacterial levels (typically < 10 cfu/mL after UV). Clinical users benefit from an economical system that produces a consistent and reliable supply of pure water.

The easy-to-maintain RiOs-DI Clinical system combines all major purification technologies in a single disposable pack, which can be changed in just a few minutes. Additionally, the system’s color graphic display indicates system parameters and water quality, making it clear when the cartridge needs replacement.

With a 6-liter built-in reservoir as part of its compact and convenient design, purified water is stored and available when needed. The RiOs-DI Clinical system can be installed anywhere in the clinical laboratory.

Millipore delivers a broad and innovative range of systems for clinical and immunochemistry instruments that improve laboratory productivity and ensure accurate daily results. Its clinical products benefit users in hospitals, physicians’ offices, reference and forensic labs, as well as diagnostic manufacturers.
