Miltenyi Biotec are to take part in an Exhibitor Spotlight Symposium and poster session at AACR 2017. They will also be displaying their biomedical instruments, reagents, and services at Booth 2607.

Exhibitor Spotlight Symposium
Extracellular Vesicle Characterization: Resolving Challenges and Expanding Application
Tuesday, April 4, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm, Spotlight Theater B, Exhibit Hall Walter E. Washington Convention Center Washington, D.C. USA

  • 12:30 p.m. Welcome Cole Jones Miltenyi Biotec
  • 12:35 p.m. Surface Protein Characterization of Exosome Nanoparticles using a Multiplexing Approach
    • Presenter: Dr. John Ludlow, Ph.D. Executive Director, Regenerative Medicine ZenBio, Inc. Research Triangle Park Durham, NC, USA
    • Abstract: Once thought of as contaminating debris in cell culture, we have combined the use of a bioreactor to scale up exosome production and the human MACSPlex Exosome Kit for analysis on the Miltenyi Biotec MACSQuant® Analyzer to characterize these particles. This information will be used for developing regenerative medicine products.
  • 1:05 p.m. Mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (MSC-EVs), a potential new tool to treat acute GvHD
    • Presenter: Dr. Bernd Giebel, Group Leader, Medical Faculty Institute for Transfusion Medicine, University Hospital Essen, Germany
    • Abstract: MSC-EVs exert immunotherapeutic and pro-regenerative activities. After successfully using MSCEVs for the treatment of an aGvHD patient, we are optimizing the MSC-EV production process for the clinical setting. Observing functional differences between independent MSC-EV fractions, we have started to study the EVs heterogeneity within and between independent MSC-EV fractions

Poster Session
Workflow automation and parallelization improves the isolation and analysis of tumor-infiltrating immune subpopulations
Monday, April 3, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm, Poster Board Number: 20, Permanent Abstract Number: 1672

  • Presenter: Dr. Olaf Hardt Manager R&D Oncology Miltenyi Biotec, GmbH
  • Abstract: Syngeneic mouse tumor models represent the gold standard to analyze the effects of immunotherapy, as they possess a fully competent immune repertoire. However, the amount and composition of tumor-infiltrating leukocytes (TILs) within tumor samples is highly complex and variable, complicating analysis of individual subpopulations. By combining optimized and automated tissue dissociation with specific pre-enrichment of TILs, we reduced the time and cost of downstream analysis while significantly increasing the quality of data obtained from TIL analysis.

AACR Runners for Research

Miltenyi Biotec are official sponsors of the AACR Runners for Research 5K Run/Walk, which takes place on Saturday April 1 at 7am.

The run is at East Potomac Park, Washington, DC and takes in historic landmarks. 100% of funds raised will support the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), whose mission is to prevent and cure cancer through research, education, communication and collaboration.

Registration costs $50 for AACR Annual Meeting attendees, $40 for area residents and free for cancer survivors.
