Nanopipetting on STAR Line Workstations

14 Mar 2007

With the Nanodispenser module HAMILTON offers a new extension for the STAR workstation that allows nanoliter and microliter pipetting to be performed on the same instrument. The nanopipetting module consists of a 8-channel module with individual control of each channel and standard 9mm spacing plus one optional independent channel. Each channel has a volume range of 25nl to 1000nl, depending on the viscosity of the pipetted liquid.

The HAMILTON nanopipetting application distinguishes itself by providing the option of monitoring each pipetting step using patented Seyonic MEMS flow sensors and pipetting technology to detect foam, clogs or insufficient sample liquid during aspiration. The flow sensors control volume in real time and automatically compensate for variations in sample liquid viscosity. This eliminates the need for individual liquid classes and assures accurate pipetting of a wide range of liquids repeatably and reliably.

Users can combine the Nanodispensing module with 1 to 12 individual microliter pipetting channels and a 96/384 probe pipetting head on one and the same system.
