New affordable lab tool for cooling stirred reactions

Radleys (Saffron Walden, UK) has announced the introduction of Cool-It insulated bowls, a compact and highly affordable lab tool designed, in conjunction with a stirring hotplate and freezing mixture, to provide cooling to -70ºC for round bottom flasks.

Designed to fit on a standard stirring hotplate, a choice of two Cool-It insulated bowls are available to accommodate round bottom flasks from 10ml to 2 litres. Manufactured with a robust, virtually unbreakable, chemically resistant HPDE outer, Cool-It bowls are compatible with a wide range of freezing mixtures enabling cooling of reactions down to -70ºC. An insulated foam core maintains low temperatures for long periods, protects users from contact with freezing mixtures and reduces condensation and ice formation on outer surfaces. To prolong the duration of cooling, Cool-It bowls come with a special lid that reduces the risk of solvent spitting or accidental spilling of reactive reagents into the freezing mixture.

After completion of your experiment a unique non-drip pouring spout allows freezing mixture to be simply and safely drained. An integral handle further increases the ease and safety of draining the freezing mixture post reaction.
