New Brochure from Thermo describes Atomic Absorption Spectrometry with Added Intelligence

24 May 2006

Thermo Electron Corporation has published a new brochure to provide an overview of the benefits and capabilities of its innovative new Mi and Si Atomic Absorption (AA) spectrometers, the most intelligent AA instruments available.

The new easy-to-use spectrometers not only save time and samples, by reducing the risk of sample re-runs, but also increase confidence in the quality and validity of the analytical data produced. The brochure provides an in depth description of the full range of added intelligence enhancements now available with these fully automatic novel instruments that are designed to offer superior performance, improved ease of operation and regulatory compliance.

The eight page brochure describes the benefits of the Mi and Si AA products for users in high throughput elemental analysis laboratories such as environmental, food and beverage, petrochemical, metallurgy and clinical analysis laboratories. The brochure provides detailed explanations of the principles of operation and the unique capabilities of both the M Series Dual Atomizer range and the SSeries range, thus serving as an easy-to-use tool even for customers who are new to AA analysis. The new brochure is available now via the article webpage.

Thermo’s new Si and Mi AA spectrometers incorporate unique intelligent Spectrometer Qualification (iSQ), which is able to automatically test and confirm the spectrometer’s hardware performance and can be set to perform tests even before the operator arrives in the lab. Intelligent accessories, including a continuous flow vapor system and high accuracy autodilutor, are also available to tailor the system to any specific analytical requirements.

The iSQ software is located within the main SOLAAR operating software, which was the first AA software package to run under Microsoft Windows®, combining full functionality with an easy to use and learn interface. Simple software wizards guide users through the setup procedure while selection and filtering tools enable them to focus on the results they need. The software can automatically optimize critical method parameters each time an analysis is run providing the best possible results. Added e-signatures, event logs, audit trails and access controls meet all the requirements set out in the 21 CFR Part 11 Rule without compromising the software’s renowned usability.
