The new Model 290 motorized CCTV Zoom Lens from Resolve Optics Ltd. incorporates a range of useful features enabling uncompromised performance in environments subject to radiation such as nuclear power generation stations.

Manufactured from cerium doped glass or synthetic silica the Model 290 is able to withstand radiation exposure of up to 53 kGy (53,000,000 rads) and temperatures up to 55 degrees centigrade without discoloration.

The Model 290 has been designed for use with single chip 1/2" and 2/3" CCTV cameras as well as Newvicon and Chalnicon tubes. Operating at f/1.8 for most focal lengths the lens provides high image resolution and minimum geometric distortion from 400 - 750 nm. By using a novel telescopic focusing mount the Model 290 is able to provide a large movement in an extremely compact form. This gives the Model 290 the capability to image objects from 800mm to infinity without using add-on adapters. When focused at infinity the lens achieves high image resolution on axis at full aperture throughout the zoom range without refocusing (image tracking). All three functions of the Model 290 are motorized and include slip clutches and electronic noise suppression which enables the high performance lens to be used as a direct replacement for the Fujinon 12-72mm (6x) non browning zoom lens.

Typical monitoring applications for the Model 290 include nuclear fuel handling operations as well as remote monitoring of reactor active zones and nuclear waste storage plants.
